Policy Priorities

An active, strategic and effective Government Affairs program remains a pillar of strength for the Baldy View Chapter. Despite covering the largest geographic county in the nation, the Baldy View team has continued to represent our chapter's policy priorities with award winning efforts. Last year, the National Association of Home Builders recognized the Baldy View Chapter for the Best Local Government Affairs Program.

Our focus is clear - advocate for public policies aimed at ensuring an adequate supply of quality, affordable housing available to all Californians. In doing so, the Baldy View Chapter is working hard to increase homeownership in San Bernardino County and promote a healthy, growing economy.

This year we will promote the Jobs Creation Initiative, a policy package grounded in empirical data that reaffirms a core economic principle - the jobs created by the home building industry serves as the foundation for a strong local, regional, state and national economy. The Jobs Creation Initiative focuses on the following core policy approaches:

*      Temporarily reduce fees to manageable levels that reflect the current economic depression

*      Defer fee payments to certificate of occupancy

*      Eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy and requirements that would add unnecessary costs or delays
