(January 28, 2009) — The Building Industry Association (BIA) Baldy View Chapter and Jobing.com have partnered with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to give local youth valuable on-the-job experience. “We are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to work with our partners to create such a valuable experience for the youth in our community,” said Katey Darling, Community Relations Director for Jobing.com. “This Job Shadow program allows us to give the volunteers valuable work experience while helping a great cause.” Through Jobing.com’s Job Shadow program students in the local Jobcorps and Majove Basin Youth Corps have been offered the opportunity to learn valuable construction skills. During the building of the house for the program these youth will be matched with construction professionals that they can shadow while the construction takes place. By volunteering their time they will also be doing a valuable community service. “This program has offered our members and local residents many exciting opportunities to give back to the communities we live and work in,” said Frank Williams, BIA Baldy View Chapter CEO. “We are thrilled that this project will provide local youth job training and a chance to doing something very generous for a deserving family.” The BIA Baldy View Chapter, a non-profit trade association with approximately 500 members, is assisting in recruiting builders, subcontractors and suppliers to participate in the demolition of an old home and construction of a new home for a deserving inland empire family. The construction of the new home is set to take place in just seven days with each day representing what would normally be a month of work in a typical home construction schedule. Five deserving Inland Empire families are being considered, but only one lucky family will be surprised when Ty Pennington, team leader of the show, and his design team knock on their front door on January 31.This will be the first time Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has been to Southern California since 2006 and the second time in the Inland Empire.
